New Plea for Legal Funds
With the very, very sad news of the passing of Exit’s barrister, Peter Nugent, on 1 March 2015 we need legal funds & $$ more than ever.
Throughout the entire Medical Board matter, Peter acted pro bono for Exit. The funds to date have gone on solicitor’s fees and court disbursements.
Peter Nugent was a man of incredible commitment, generosity and passion.
He was this cause’s staunchest defender and best friend. He knew the right to choose issue like no one else. In short, Peter Nugent can never be replaced.
However, replace Peter we must for Philip’s appeal in the Northern Territory Supreme Court on 1 April 2015.
Exit is lucky, we have been able to engage some excellent legal expertise. While these lawyers are assisting on a mates’ rates basis, they are not free. They are not Peter.
For this reason, we urge supporters of Exit and the Voluntary Euthanasia cause to give generously once again.
Please help us honour Peter’s memory by continuing the appeal which Peter himself described as ‘the trial I was born to run’.
