Exit International was founded in Australia 1997 by Dr Philip Nitschke under the name the Voluntary Euthanasia Research Foundation (VERF). The organisation rebranded in 2001 to be Exit International.
Exit has an online supporter base of over 30,000 in countries around the world.
Supported by a small staff & an active network of volunteers, Exit’s income is derived from memberships, bequests & other donations.
Exit is a public limited company which is non-profit.
In Nth America, Exit’s 501(c)3 is Exit Generation. Donations to Exit Generation are tax deductible to the full extent of the law (US).
Membership Profile
- The average age of Exit members is 75 years.
- The vast majority of Exit members are the well elderly.
- A significant minority of members are seriously ill.
